37th Fajr Film Festival honors winners

Winners of the 37th Fajr Film Festival (FFF) in various categories have been awarded during closing ceremony.

The closing of Iran’s leading cinematic event was held at Tehran’s iconic Milad Tower on Monday evening.

The winners that grabbed the Crystal Simorgh awards are as follows:

Best Short Film: ‘Pedovore’ by Mohammad Kart

Best Documentary: ‘Baharestan House of Nation’ by Babak Behdad

Best Film at New Look section: ‘Buffoon’ by Homayoun Ghanizadeh

Best Film from National View: ’23 People’ by Mehdi Jafari

Best Special Effects: Iman Karamian for ‘Midday Adventures: Trace of Blood’

Best Visual Effects: Javad Matouri for ‘Buffoon’

Best Makeup: Iman Omidvari for ‘Night of the Full Moon’

Best Costume Design: Mohammad-Reza Shojaee for ‘Midday Adventures: Trace of Blood’

Best Scenic Design: Keyvan Moqaddam for ‘Takhti, the World Champion’

Best Sound Recording: Iraj Shahzadi for ‘6.5 per Meter’

Best Sound Mixing: Mehrshad Malakouti for ‘Midday Adventures: Trace of Blood’

Best Editing: Bahram Dehqani for ‘6.5 per Meter’

Best Film Score: Amin Honarmand for ‘Qasr-e Shirin’

The FFF coincides with the ten-Day Fajr ceremonies across Iran, marking the 40th anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Since its establishment in 1982, the FFF has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran every year.

This is while, the international version of the Fajr Film Festival will be held in April 2019.

The 37th FFF kicked off on January 30, 2019, and ran until February 11 in Tehran and a selection of other Iranian cities.
